In the years 1980, the Dreyfus brothers have developed a model of skill acquisition which demonstrates how people acquire skills through five distinct stages. Although IT agnostic, the model today is mainly used in the IT-world. ING is one of the companies that recently opted for this model, which supports their global people strategy. The fundamental belief of this strategy is that people cannot just be assessed and rewarded against theoretical knowledge or past experience, but must be evaluated on observable behaviors, where one acting intuitively is far more productive than someone simply following the rule.
